Good 4 string bass guitar for around $300?

Hey, I just started getting into bass and I bought a $200 starter kit a while back that came with an amp and stuff but now I want to get a new, quality bass for around $300 I've looked at a couple such as the epiphone thunderbird IV and the Ibanez SRX2EX1. anything will help, thanks!
