What are good fishing lakes in southern california during late July - early Aug? Anything in the Sierra's - B?

Anything in the Sierra's - Bishop, CA? We live in Palm Desert & are looking for a week-end fishing trip in late July - early Aug. Would love to enjoy some great fish over an evening campfire.
